Dakar & Beyond — An Open Invitation

Dakar & Beyond is an international platform in formation—a space for connecting practices, perspectives, and people across borders who are committed to thoughtful, ethical storytelling.

The platform is open to photographers, filmmakers, writers, researchers, and critics from different parts of the world who are interested in sustained dialogue and long-term collaboration. What unites this work is a shared sense of responsibility toward how stories are shaped, carried, and understood across cultural and social contexts.

Dakar & Beyond is imagined as a connective platform rather than a showcase: a place where diverse practices exist in conversation, where dominant narratives can be questioned, and where alternative ways of seeing may emerge. Relationships, process, and context are considered as integral to the work itself.

How to Engage

There is no single entry point into Dakar & Beyond. Engagement may take different forms, depending on practice and interest.

• Contributors and collaborators  may engage through dialogue, shared research, or participation in project-based initiatives aligned with the organization’s values.

• Artists and storytellers may contribute work or ideas to curated conversations and long-form projects as they develop.

• Researchers, critics, and educators may participate through writing, critical exchange, or contextual support.

• Patrons, supporters, and aligned partners may engage by supporting specific projects or the broader development of the platform.

  Participation often begins informally and may deepen over time. Dakar & Beyond values alignment, trust, and care over speed or scale. If this orientation resonates with your own practice or way of thinking, you are welcome to engage—whether by entering into conversation, following the work as it unfolds, or contributing to its longer-term development.

  For Donors, Funders & Supporters

  The work we are undertaking requires resources to move forward. Projects need time in the field, space to develop, and the means to continue without interruption.
  Financial support makes this possible. It sustains both the work itself and the operations that allow it to continue—research, travel, collaboration, and the structures that hold these efforts together.
  Those who understand that some work advances only when it is materially supported may choose to contribute. Support can be directed toward specific projects or toward the ongoing work.
